Education...the great equalizer...

Education is one of the great equalizers in our society, and it is the responsibility of those of us elected to public office to maintain a constant and consistent focus on the need to provide a sound, quality education to our children. Good, quality schools attract new businesses, create a skilled workforce, reduce the incidence of crime and generally improve the social fabric of our communities. Iowa has some of the best high schools in the country, and I will work to keep it that way. Teachers need the resources to do their job and to be able to control their classrooms. Iowa has some of the best colleges and universities in the country. They need flexibility to maintain quality, meet the challenges of rising demands, and keep costs under control. I oppose cuts in education. Having worked as an Educator for years and now a small business owner, I understand how vital education is to our economic prosperity and national security.
