As I was canvassing a neighborhood, I approached  a voter’s door  and heard a  loud cry for help. Trying to determine where the cry was coming from, I knocked on the door a second time and discovered that the door was partially opened.   I identified myself, cautiously opened the door, and heard a desperate cry …”Help me, I am hurt!”  I entered the house and discovered an elderly lady leaning up against the wall in a cold sweat.  I asked her if she was okay and she said, “no, I fell in the back yard and I made it this far and I am in a lot of pain, can you help me?”  I asked her if she could sit and I found a chair in the garage and sat her down.  I asked if she had a cell phone and if there was someone I could call.  She told me to call her daughter, but her daughter did not answer the phone.  I went to a neighbor’s house and asked if they could help me.  They came over and called the paramedics.  I was later informed that she had reinjured a broken hip and had been waiting for help for over an hour when I arrived.
